ECOLUTION: Connected systems are shaping how sustainable infrastructures operate
March 6, 2026 EA Editor

Across sectors such as agriculture, water management, transport, and urban services, sustainability increasingly depends on systems that can collect, exchange, and process data in real time.

These systems are enabled by the Internet of Things (IoT) – networks of connected devices and platforms that allow environments, infrastructure, and services to operate more intelligently and efficiently.

According to the European Commission, the Internet of Things connects billions of devices and systems that collect and exchange data, enabling monitoring, maintenance, and improvements in processes that support smarter environments and services.

This is where the ECOLUTION Project contributes.

The IoT Platforms & Systems course introduces learners to the technologies behind designing, developing, and implementing IoT-based solutions across sectors such as smart agriculture, smart cities, water systems, and transport. By understanding how connected systems are built and integrated, learners gain practical knowledge that supports data-driven and sustainable infrastructures.
