→ Cities consume roughly 75% of the world’s primary energy and produce 71-76% of CO₂ emissions (Urban Energy, Climate Change| UN-Habitat World)
→ Urban areas are also on the front lines of climate impacts, housing shortages, and infrastructure challenges (Habitat Day Concept Note | UN-Habitat)
That’s why the INHABITAT MSc makes urban sustainability a priority from day one.
📚 In Semester A – Winter Term 2025-2026, students in Class 1 explore:
- Circular & regenerative construction
- Biophilic design and green infrastructure
- Smart value chains and sustainability assessment
- IoT and GIS for real-time environmental monitoring
- Life cycle thinking and urban system modeling
- Hands-on case studies in smart infrastructure & green buildings
Through challenge-based learning, students analyze real-world urban challenges and design data-driven, climate-resilient solutions that align with circular economy goals.
Cities need smart systems, inclusive design, and informed action.
