SPECTRO: A Summer of Cybersecurity, AI, and Robotics Begins
July 3, 2026 EA Editor

The SPECTRO Summer School is officially underway at the University of Rennes, bringing together students, researchers, mentors, and industry experts for two weeks of intensive learning, collaboration, and innovation.

Designed as part of the EIT Digital Master School, the Summer School gives participants the opportunity to work on real-world challenges at the intersection of cybersecurity, artificial intelligence, and robotics. By combining technical learning with practical application, the program encourages participants to develop solutions that address some of today’s most pressing digital challenges.

The event opened with a commencement speech by Alvaro Pina Stranger from the University of Rennes, setting the stage for an intensive program focused on applied learning, expert mentoring, and venture creation.

Throughout the Summer School, participants will explore topics linked to dual-use AI-driven robotic systems, working on challenges that include mobile-network drone tracking, embedded system protection, AI-enabled threat detection, adversarial attacks, and cyber resilience. These areas reflect the growing importance of interdisciplinary expertise as Europe continues to strengthen its digital capabilities.

Beyond the technical sessions, the program also places a strong emphasis on collaboration. Through co-creation workshops, one-to-one corporate strategy sessions, and mentoring from experts, participants are encouraged to develop innovative ideas while gaining experience in translating technical concepts into solutions with real-world impact.

This combination of technical knowledge, entrepreneurship, and teamwork reflects the broader objectives of SPECTRO, which aims to equip learners with the knowledge and practical skills needed to contribute to Europe’s evolving digital landscape.

28DIGITAL, together with Evolutionary Archetypes Consulting SL (EAC) and the wider SPECTRO consortium, continues to support learning opportunities that connect higher education, research, and industry. Initiatives such as the Summer School help participants strengthen their expertise while collaborating across disciplines and institutions.

As the program progresses over the coming weeks, participants will continue developing their projects, exchanging ideas with peers and mentors, and applying their knowledge to practical cybersecurity and robotics challenges.
