🧠 Smart Cities, Smarter Reality: How Data and AR/VR Shape Europe’s Digital Future
Why should we all learn about augmented reality, virtual reality, and data processing?
Because Europe’s green and digital transition depends on professionals who can merge technology with sustainability.
📚 The INHABITAT Project includes a 9 ECTS module in Data Processing and AR/VR (INH-C.2), taught in Semester C (Spring 2025-2026).
In this module, students explore:
• Design, development & implementation of augmented and virtual reality solutions across sectors
• Model organization, simulation & testing methods for AR/VR systems
• Technological challenges in medical, deep-water and industrial applications where sustainability and reliability are key
• Integration of AR and VR within IoT platforms to enhance smart urban systems
• Data processing techniques for analyzing and securing urban data using MATLAB and OpenRefine
• Blockchain-based frameworks that improve data security, transparency, and trust in smart city networks
Why does it matter?
⇒ Europe needs experts who can transform massive datasets and immersive technologies into sustainable urban innovation.
⇒ By combining data analytics, blockchain, and AR/VR, students learn how to design secure, interoperable systems that drive the EU’s digital future.
