🌍 EAC at the 2025 United Nations Forum on Business and Human Rights
From 24-26 November 2025, EAC attended the 14th United Nations Forum on Business and Human Rights, the world’s largest gathering dedicated to advancing the UN Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights (UNGPs). This year’s Forum focused on how businesses, governments, and organizations can uphold human rights amid rapid technological, social, and environmental change.
Our CEO, Chris Haberl represented EAC at the Forum, reflecting on the timeless foundations of human rights:
“The fight is the same since antiquity. We fight for equality. We fight for friendship. We fight for equal rights. We fight for our agency.” – Chris Haberl
These principles continue to guide global discussions on business responsibility, digital transformation, and inclusive development.
Key Human Rights Themes Discussed at the Forum
Across three days, participants explored urgent issues shaping today’s human rights landscape, including:
• Business and human rights in crisis contexts
• Responsible recruitment and labor rights
• AI, digital platforms, and the future of work
• Environmental and social due diligence
• Access to justice and remedy
Each theme highlights a simple truth: human rights must remain central as societies advance technologically and structurally.
Why This Matters for EAC
EAC’s work across education, digital innovation, and social impact is grounded in human rights values. Events like the UN Forum help us stay aligned with global developments and connect with like-minded activists and professionals to continue the fight for equality, freedom, and equal rights.
⇒ Human rights define how people learn, work, and thrive. As Chris noted, the global struggle for freedom and equality is centuries old, but today’s tools and responsibilities are new. Our role is to help ensure that innovation strengthens agency rather than undermines it.
