Sharing Ideas with Peer Support: Our Safe Space Showcase Virtual Exchange
Putting creative work out into the world can feel daunting. Whether you are a designer presenting a draft, a youth worker pitching a new initiative, or an artist testing a concept, vulnerability is inevitable. Often, the fear of harsh critique, imposter syndrome, and constant comparison keep promising projects locked in our digital folders.
On 22 October 2026, participants from across Europe and the Western Balkans joined together for Sharing Ideas with Peer Support, Session 5 of the EAC EMPOWER Impact Series, co-hosted with the DigiCreate Empower project.
This interactive session served as the concluding showcase of our opening five-week cycle: Learning Cycle 1: Safe Space.
The Journey Through Learning Cycle 1: Safe Space
The EAC EMPOWER Impact Series spans 30 weekly sessions organised across six progressive learning cycles:
- Safe Space
- Professional Equity
- Mutual Value
- Constructive Validation
- Sustainable Growth
- Self-Awareness
Throughout Cycle 1, participants moved step-by-step from personal grounding to collective empowerment. We began by finding our voice on camera, established gentle digital boundaries, explored constructive feedback models, and practised staying calm under deadline pressure.
Session 5 brought these elements into live practice by creating a dedicated peer showcase.
What We Explored in Session 5
Guided by principles from Steven Pressfield’s The War of Art and non-formal youth exchange methods, our group tackled the core psychological barriers to self-expression:
1. Working Territorially, Not Hierarchically
In competitive environments, creators often look up and down the ladder, comparing their worth to others. Pressfield reminds us that a professional claims a territory, a space of intrinsic commitment, effort, and growth. During the session, participants reflected on how to root their confidence in their craft rather than in superficial validation.
2. Acknowledging Inner Resistance
Resistance always peaks right before we show our work to others. Participants openly discussed feelings of hesitation and learned to recognise Resistance not as a sign of failure, but as proof that the project truly matters to them.
3. Crafting an Authentic Personal Branding Statement
Creative identity does not mean building an artificial persona. Participants drafted concise personal statements highlighting their values, background, and the impact they want to make through their work.
4. Experiencing Uplifting Peer Feedback
Sharing unpolished work requires psychological safety. Breakout groups practised offering encouragement that validated each creator’s effort while offering helpful, constructive perspectives to help the ideas grow.
Co-Creating Our Participatory Showcase Video
A defining feature of the DigiCreate Virtual Exchanges is collaborative content generation. During the session, participants synthesised their takeaways, scripts, and personal branding statements into a shared participatory video.
