📡 How Data Powers Smart Cities: Learning IoT & Acquisition Systems
What connects a smart city’s clean air, flowing traffic, safe water, and reliable utilities?
The data, and the systems that capture, transmit, and interpret it.
📚 That’s why INHABITAT Project includes a full 12 ECTS course on Data Acquisition & IoT.
In this module, students explore:
• Sensor systems used in smart cities: air quality, water quality, noise, pressure, and weather
• How data is acquired from urban environments using IoT-enabled devices
• Connectivity with diagnostic platforms in cloud, edge, and mobile networks
• IoT architecture, networking protocols, system integration & service design
• Hands-on labs across sectors like smart water, smart agriculture, and smart mobility
Why does it matter?
Because designing resilient, efficient, and livable cities depends on real-time data, from street level to the cloud.
Learning to manage that data is how students become the people shaping tomorrow’s urban systems.
